Please bring your child to the Lower Church Hall 15 minutes early (9:15am or 11.15am) to assemble for the procession into Resurrection Church.
Children sit with their Catechists during the First Reconciliation Prayer Service in front pews. Parents and families sit behind the reserved pews.
At the conclusion of the First Reconciliation Prayer Service, parents and families are invited to the Lower Church Hall for a reception while the children receive their First Sacrament of Reconciliation. Catechists remain in the Church to coordinate the children’s movements. After the children have received their Sacrament and prayed their penance, our 8th graders will escort them to the Lower Church Hall for refreshments.
In preparation, please review the Act of Contrition with your child and the Our Father and Hail Mary – the prayers they may be asked to pray as penance.
Act of Contrition
My God,
I am sorry for my sins with all my heart.
In choosing to do wrong
and failing to do good,
I have sinned against You
Whom I should love above all things.
I firmly intend, with Your help,
to do penance,
to sin no more,
And to avoid whatever leads me to sin.
Our Savior Jesus Christ
suffered and died for us.
In his name, my God, have mercy.
Amen
